April 13-14, 2019
Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia
Call for Papers
This conference is an interdisciplinary meeting aimed at bringing together graduate students, early-career scholars, and experts in the fields of economic and world history from Georgia State and other universities in the US and abroad. Our goal is to facilitate conversation among participants on research themes/topics, methodologies and approaches, archives and sources, and global connections and comparisons. The theme of the conference is “Connecting Local and Global Economic Histories,” and we hope that panelists will present their research on topics in global and economic history from the earliest times to the present. This two-day conference will feature several concurrent thematic panels. We especially welcome panel/paper proposals from graduate students and early career scholars. This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Şevket Pamuk, Professor of Economics and Economic History at Bogaziçi (Bosphorus) University.
The conference will take place on April 13-14, 2019, on Georgia State University’s campus in downtown Atlanta. We will send details about hotels and parking closer to the conference date. Those interested in participating should let the organizers know by January 15, 2019 by submitting a one-page abstract describing the scholar’s proposal by that date along with a short CV to one or both of the organizers’ emails below. A full paper will be expected by March 25, 2018. There is no registration fee, but attendees will need to register online before the conference (link to be provided at a later date). The organizers cannot provide funding for accommodations or travel expenses at this point.
